THE OAKSHIELDS
The Story of the Oakshield Alliance
Long before kingdoms rose upon the plains and caravans crossed the deserts, the ancient forests stood untouched beneath towering canopies of living oak. The Barken believed these woods were never theirs to claim, but a sacred gift entrusted to their care by the Ancient Spirits. Every tree, every river and every creature formed part of a delicate balance that had to be preserved for generations yet to come. From that belief, the Oakshield Alliance was born.
Different from the other alliances, the Oakshields measure prosperity not by wealth or conquest, but by harmony. Every settlement has devoted itself to a craft that strengthens both the forest and its people. Some cultivate enchanted wheat beneath druidic blessings, others shape the world’s finest timber, preserve forgotten knowledge within living libraries, or master the ancient arts of healing and guardianship. Every generation is taught that mastery requires patience, and that true craftsmanship should leave the world healthier than it was found.
Faith is woven into every part of Oakshield life. The Ancient Spirits are not distant gods, but ever-present guardians whose blessings are felt in every harvest, every growing branch and every successful hunt. Druids guide the seasons, sacred rituals preserve the balance of nature and even the greatest warriors understand that strength exists only to protect what cannot defend itself. Across the Alliance, devotion to the Spirits is matched only by devotion to one another.
Though the Fray of Factions forced the Oakshields to defend their homeland, they have never abandoned their belief that peace is worth protecting. Trade continues with trusted allies, wisdom is freely shared with those willing to learn, and every sapling planted carries the hope that future generations may inherit forests even greater than those of today.
The Oakshields are remembered not for the battles they have won, but for the forests they have preserved. For they believe that every life, like every tree, becomes strongest when its roots grow together.
“The forest remembers those who protect it.”

Bloomheart
Bloomheart is known throughout the world as the birthplace of the finest healers the Barken have ever raised. Nestled within vast fields of enchanted flowers and medicinal herbs, the village thrives where nature's restorative powers are at their strongest. Every blossom is carefully nurtured by Druids, creating remedies that cannot be found anywhere else.
Although every Oakshield settlement trains Healers to care for their people, only Bloomheart has mastered the ancient art of combining druidic magic with natural medicine. Their remedies are sought by nobles, merchants and rulers from every corner of the world, many of whom travel great distances in the hope of finding a cure.
To the people of Bloomheart, healing is more than a profession. It is a sacred responsibility to preserve life wherever it may flourish.
Maevra Fernblossom
Maevra Fernblossom was born into an ordinary Barken family, where peace and harmony with nature shaped every part of her childhood. That peaceful life was shattered when a mysterious illness claimed both of her parents, despite the desperate efforts of the village's healers.
Unable to accept that some lives simply could not be saved, Maevra dedicated herself to understanding every flower, herb and druidic remedy the forests had to offer. While others mastered the blade or the bow, she spent countless seasons wandering enchanted meadows in search of plants whose healing properties had long been forgotten.
Her unwavering compassion and relentless pursuit of knowledge transformed her into Bloomheart's most gifted Priest. Travelers from across the world now journey to the village seeking her wisdom, often arriving only after every other healer has exhausted their options.
Despite her reputation, Maevra has never sought recognition. She believes every life deserves the same care, whether it belongs to a humble farmer or a powerful ruler.
To Maevra, healing is more than restoring the body. It is preserving the future of the Barken, one life at a time.

Everleaf I
The Everleaf is home to the greatest collection of knowledge in the known world. Hidden beneath the ancient canopy of the Oakshields, its endless library is enchanted by powerful Druids, allowing living branches to carefully sort and preserve thousands of handwritten books across towering shelves that seem to stretch endlessly into the trees.
For centuries, the Archive has served as the intellectual heart of the world. Historians, philosophers and scholars devote their lives to recording every discovery, every conflict and every lesson worth preserving. Their writings have spread far beyond the forests, earning the respect of rulers, merchants and explorers from every corner of the world.
To the Barken of Everleaf, knowledge is not meant to be possessed. It is meant to be preserved, shared and passed on so that every generation may build upon the wisdom of those before them.
Aeren Mossquill
Aeren Mossquill grew up surrounded by books, raised within the towering halls of the Everleaf Archive by parents who had dedicated their lives to protecting its endless collection of knowledge. Alongside his twin brother, he spent his childhood reading the works of generations long gone, fascinated by the rise and fall of civilizations throughout history.
As the brothers grew older, their paths slowly diverged. While his brother sought answers in the changing world, Aeren devoted himself to uncovering its past. He traveled across every known land, collecting forgotten manuscripts, documenting ancient ruins and preserving stories that would otherwise have been lost forever.
Over the years, Aeren became one of the world's most respected historians. His writings have become essential reading for rulers, generals and scholars alike, offering lessons drawn from centuries of triumphs and mistakes.
To Aeren, every forgotten story is another mistake waiting to be repeated.

Caelen Mossquill
Like his twin brother, Caelen Mossquill spent his youth within the endless halls of the Everleaf Archive, where every shelf held another mystery waiting to be explored. Yet while others searched for answers in books alone, Caelen became fascinated by the world that continued to unfold beyond the library's walls.
Rather than studying what had already happened, he traveled tirelessly to observe what was happening now. He visited distant kingdoms, spoke with merchants, warriors and philosophers alike, and returned home each season with new journals filled with observations about the changing world. By recognizing patterns in nature, politics and society, Caelen developed an extraordinary ability to anticipate what might come next.
His books are regarded less as records of history and more as guides for the future. Leaders across the world eagerly await his newest writings, believing they offer insights into challenges yet to come.
To Caelen, wisdom is never finished. It grows with every passing day.

Goldenroot
Goldenroot is home to the most fertile magical wheatfields in all of the Oakshields lands. Blessed by ancient druidic rituals and tended by generations of devoted Barken, their golden wheat has become one of the most valuable exports in the known world.
Their harvest feeds not only the Oakshields but also many settlements of the rest of the world. For centuries, caravans have traveled between Goldenroot and Millrest, where their enchanted grain is crafted to bread eaten by the world.
Every Barken in Goldenroot grows up believing that honest work is the greatest honor one can earn. Their reputation was never built through conquest, but through discipline, perseverance and generations of tireless labor.Bryn Oakbane
Bryn Oakbane was never born into nobility. He spent his youth in the wheatfields alongside every other farmer, learning that a successful harvest depends not on luck, but on discipline. Even before sunrise, Bryn could already be found walking the fields, organizing workers and ensuring every hand had a purpose.
His remarkable ability to coordinate entire harvests earned him the title of Foreman long before most Barken had earned their first branch scars. Under his guidance, the fields produced record harvests year after year.
That prosperity came to an abrupt end when neighboring territories pushed the Goldenroot faction back from several of their sacred fields. Although the village survived, much of their enchanted farmland was lost.
Since that day, Bryn has devoted his life to one goal above all else: protecting the remaining wheatfields that sustain his people.
He now leads from the front, not as a king upon a throne, but as the first worker in the fields and the last guardian to leave the walls when danger approaches.
To Bryn, every stalk of enchanted wheat represents another season his people will endure.

Greybastion
Greybastion is the oldest military settlement within the Oakshields. Long before the forests knew peace, its warriors stood as the shield between the Barken and every threat that sought to claim their homeland. Though the years have brought quieter times, the village remains home to generations of seasoned veterans whose knowledge has been forged through countless battles.
Unlike other settlements that celebrate youthful strength, Greybastion values experience above all else. Every warrior, from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran, shares their lessons with those around them. Every victory is studied, every defeat remembered, and every battle becomes another chapter in the village's living history.
Across the world, Greybastion is respected not for producing the strongest warriors, but for producing the wisest.
Garrok Ashwarden
Born into one of the oldest noble bloodlines of the Oakshields, Garrok Ashwarden inherited far more than a title. As one of the few living leaders who fought during the Fray itself, he witnessed firsthand the devastation that reshaped the world and the sacrifices required to preserve it.
Unlike many legendary warriors, Garrok never sought glory through overwhelming strength. He remained a humble Footman throughout his military career, believing that true leadership begins beside the soldiers rather than above them. Decades of commanding armies have sharpened his greatest weapon: experience.
Before every battle, Garrok carefully prepares his warriors for every possible outcome. After every battle, he gathers them once more to analyze every success, every mistake and every lesson learned. Under his command, even the youngest recruits grow into seasoned veterans with remarkable speed.
To Garrok, no battle is ever truly won unless every warrior returns wiser than when they left.

Ironbark
Ironbark is renowned throughout the world as the home of the finest woodworkers the Barken have ever produced. Hidden deep within the ancient forests, the faction has access to rare hardwoods found nowhere else. These magical trees are carefully cultivated by druids, allowing them to regrow naturally without disturbing the balance of the forest.
Their timber is unmatched in both strength and beauty. From humble cottages to mighty fortresses, structures built with Ironbark timber are known to last for generations. While kingdoms across the world eagerly seek their wood, Ironbark exports only what the forest can sustainably provide. They understand that the true value of their timber lies in its rarity.
To the people of Ironbark, woodworking is more than a profession. It is an art passed down from generation to generation. Every beam, every carving and every home stands as a testament to their patience, precision and respect for nature.
Thalen Grovewright
Thalen Grovewright was born to an ordinary family of woodworkers, spending his childhood beneath the towering canopies of the Oakshields. From an early age, his extraordinary understanding of timber set him apart from every apprentice around him.
Years of dedication transformed Thalen into the greatest Lumberjack of his generation. His skill was never measured by the number of trees he felled, but by how perfectly he understood the forest. He knew exactly which trees were ready to be harvested, how to shape every piece of timber with almost no waste, and how to ensure the forest would flourish for generations to come.
Rather than keeping his knowledge to himself, Thalen devoted his life to teaching others. Every young Lumberjack in Ironbark trains under his guidance, learning that patience and craftsmanship matter far more than speed. His calm demeanor, endless kindness and unrivaled expertise have earned him the admiration of the whole world.
For Thalen, every apprentice represents another generation that will continue the legacy of Ironbark.

Spiritgrove
Spiritgrove is the spiritual heart of the Oakshields, home to the Alliance's most devoted followers of the Ancient Spirits. While every Barken honors the old ways, the people of Spiritgrove have dedicated their entire lives to preserving the sacred bond between their homeland and the forest spirits that have watched over it for generations. Their unwavering faith has earned them a reputation as the most devoted guardians in the known world.
At the heart of the village stands the ancient Guardian Totem, enchanted centuries ago by powerful Druids who bound a benevolent Ancient Spirit to its living wood. Its roots stretch deep beneath the forest floor, carrying the spirit's blessing throughout the entire territory. The people of Spiritgrove believe that as long as the Totem stands, so too shall their home.
Every Barken is raised to defend not only their families, but also the sacred monument that protects them all. The Totem's presence strengthens the resolve of those who fight within its reach, filling them with unwavering courage against any force that threatens their homeland.
Across the Oakshields, Spiritgrove is known as the home of the most faithful Barken. Pilgrims regularly visit the village to seek guidance, witness the sacred rituals and pay their respects to the Ancient Spirit that continues to watch over the Sacred Grove.
Doran Brambleguard
Doran Brambleguard was born to an ordinary Barken family but earned his place through unwavering dedication to his people. Every year, Spiritgrove chooses a new Guardian through the Trial of Worth, a sacred tradition that tests not only strength, but also wisdom, leadership and devotion to the Ancient Spirit. Though many have challenged him, Doran has remained victorious year after year.
His strength alone did not earn the trust of the village. It was his calm judgment, steadfast resolve and willingness to place the safety of others above himself that convinced the people he was worthy of protecting the Totem.
Unlike every other leader within the Oakshields, Doran has accepted a lifelong burden. While he serves as Guardian, he may never leave Spiritgrove's territory. His duty is not to conquer distant lands, but to ensure that no enemy ever reaches the heart of his own.
To Doran, there is no greater honor than standing between danger and those who place their faith in him.

Thornwatch
Thornwatch stands as the first line of defense between the ancient forests of the Oakshields and the dangers that lurk within them. While every Barken settlement trains Hunters to provide food and protect their people, Thornwatch has devoted generations to mastering the art of the hunt.
The deepest parts of the woodland are home to creatures too dangerous for ordinary hunters to face. From corrupted beasts to ancient predators awakened by forgotten magic, it is Thornwatch who answers the call whenever the balance of the forest is threatened.
Their Hunters are respected across the world for their unrivaled precision and patience. To the Barken, they are more than skilled archers. They are guardians chosen to preserve the harmony between civilization and the wild
Kaelyn Briarmark
Kaelyn Briarveil was born to an ordinary Barken family but quickly proved herself unlike any Hunter before her. Even as a child, she possessed an uncanny instinct for reading the forest, following trails invisible to everyone else and sensing danger long before it revealed itself.
Years of relentless dedication forged Kaelyn into the greatest Hunter the world has ever known. Armed with an ancient bow enchanted by the Druids themselves, she hunts only the most dangerous creatures that threaten the woodland. Her victories have become legend among the Barken, and many believe the forest itself guides her arrows.
Though quiet and reserved, Kaelyn is fiercely protective of her people. Young Hunters dream of one day earning her respect, while veterans still seek her advice before venturing into the deepest forests.
For Kaelyn, every hunt is not about glory, but about ensuring that another generation of Barken may live safely beneath the ancient canopy.

Whisperveil
Whisperveil is the youngest faction within the Oakshields Alliance. Once an ordinary woodland settlement with little renown beyond its own borders, its destiny changed forever when Sera Tollborg sought refuge among its people after fleeing the Neutral Alliance.
Unlike many ancient Oakshield villages that built their legacy over centuries, Whisperveil forged its reputation within a single generation. Sera combined the practical craftsmanship she inherited from her father with the deep respect for nature taught by her Barken mother. Working alongside the villagers, she developed handcrafted camouflage woven from enchanted leaves, bark and forest vines, allowing warriors to disappear into the woodland itself. What began as a simple settlement soon became home to the greatest woodland infiltrators the Alliance had ever known.
Today, Whisperveil is known throughout the world as the home of the finest woodland infiltrators. Few enemies ever realize they are being watched until it is already too late.
Sera Tollborg
Sera Tollborg is the eldest daughter of Aldren Tollborg, once destined to inherit a life of privilege within the Neutral Alliance. As her father's ambition slowly overshadowed the values she had been raised to admire, Sera chose to leave her home behind rather than follow the path he had carved for her.
Her mother, a Barken of humble origins, had taught Sera to respect the forests from an early age. Those lessons guided her back to the Oakshields, where she found sanctuary within the quiet village that would eventually become Shadegrove.
Though welcomed with kindness, Sera never expected to lead. Instead, she shared everything she had learned during years of wandering the world, teaching the villagers how patience, observation and camouflage could become their greatest weapons. Over time, the settlement transformed alongside its new leader, earning recognition as the finest woodland scouts in existence.
Despite carrying the Tollborg name, Sera has never looked back. She believes a family name should remind people of who you choose to become, not who you leave behind.
